Our Design Talks

Nino Sydney | 28th February 2018

Award-winning Author Helen Thurloe spoke about Architect Nino Sydney and the iconic Beachcomber House, presented at the Mark Tuckey Newport Showroom.

Created in 1961, Lend Lease Homes offered the Beachcomber for sale and built a total of 200 between 1961-1970. Designed by then Lend Lease Architect, Nino Sydney, the Beachcomber was an affordable home with Bauhaus attitude. The architecture of the Beachcomber created a vast shift from conventional housing of the time, it had angular lines, a bold use of floor-to-ceiling glass and lightweight materials.

PopovBass | 21st March 2018

A talk by the Principal Architect Brian Bass, discussing recent residential architecture from PopovBass Architects, from Beach Houses to Inner-city living. Presented at Fanuli Furniture Showroom Cremorne.

Sharing their design process and the legacy that they create within modern architecture, involving new forms, materials, locations and the variety of Australian lifestyles.

New Projects

Here are our new and upcoming projects that we have started to design. We will keep this blog updated showing you the next stages of the design and build.

Freshwater House 03

A corner house on a main street in Freshwater requires a re-fresh! More privacy by moving the street entry to the side street, opening out and simplification of the rear north facing living areas. A future-proofed first floor parents retreat with study, ensuite, bedroom and its private first floor balcony area.

Collaroy House

An iconic house high on the hill in Collaroy is set for a refurbishment. The closed up spaces for the living areas will be opened up, the bedrooms and bathrooms brightened and the southern elevation opened to allow more effective airflow and connection with the wonderful views to Dee Why Beach

Underway Projects

Projects that we want to share with you, giving you an insight to our work.

Shown through the stages of "The Before", "The Construction" and "The After"

Balgowlah House 03

First floor addition and studio to classic built Californian Bungalow.

Manly House

First floor addition to heritage timber cottage for a young family.

Crows Nest House

Single storey corner detached house in heritage precinct has the rear demolished and rebuilt as an open plan living area opening onto a new courtyard and carport.

Northern Beaches Women's Shelter Ball

We are proud supporters of the work of Northern Beaches Women's Shelter, through MM+J Architects, Wo_Manly and Mo_Manly and will this year be donating a voucher for 4 hours of our time. We hope you can attend this event or donate to them.

"Flappers dancing the Charleston with slick bobs & feather boas; sharply dressed gentlemen in pinstripes and panamas; lads in newsboy caps, crying headlines from street corners: oh yes, the 1920's are roaring back to life"

The Annual Manly Women's Shelter Gala Dinner that supports peninsula women in crisis will be held at Manly Pavilion on the 2nd of June 2018. Celebrate the future by dancing back in time as this glamorous, Gala dinner promises fine food and wine, while channeling the gorgeousness of The Great Gatsby and the wit of Dorothy Parker. There will be a silent auction, with all funds going towards the work of the Shelter. The generosity given on the night allows for the continual support, safety and services that Northern Beach women need to rebuild their lives.

Date: June 2nd 2018 Time: 6.30 - 11.00pm Location: Manly Pavilion, West Esplanade Manly 2095
