Our Design Talks

 Nino Sydney | 28th February 2018

Award-winning Author Helen Thurloe spoke about Architect Nino Sydney and the iconic Beachcomber House, presented at the Mark Tuckey Newport Showroom.

Created in 1961, Lend Lease Homes offered the Beachcomber for sale and built a total of 200 between 1961-1970. Designed by then Lend Lease Architect, Nino Sydney, the Beachcomber was an affordable home with Bauhaus attitude. The architecture of the Beachcomber created a vast shift from conventional housing of the time, it had angular lines, a bold use of floor-to-ceiling glass and lightweight materials.
