Los Angeles equivalent to Bondi, mm+j architects explore Venice Beach.
East Hollywood residence originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall. The buidling was completed in 1921 and is now the feature of Barnsdall Art Park.
Situated next door to Walt Disney's Concert Hall (see last week's blog), The Broad is a 120,000 square foot contemporary art museum designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler with a $140m budget.
Dubbed 'the veil and the vault' the veil wraps around the entire building, filtering light into the space, whilst the vault is the concrete body which forms the building's core. To learn more about The Broad visit www.thebroad.org/about/building
