'Disruptive Design' visit

May 4, 2016

Principals, Luisa Manfredini + David McCrae visited Northern Beaches Christian School (NBCS), organised by Association for Learning Environments NSW.

WMK Architecture designed a covered outdoor community space, classrooms, staff areas and a café. The 11m high roof canopy – geographical school centre. Associated spaces designed using ‘disruptive’ ideas; challenging the traditional school learning model.

Design features

  • 3,000m2 roof canopy creates indoor-outdoor gathering space

  • roof rain water irrigates planting via mist spraying

  • solar roof panels

  • technology: public Wi-Fi + large outdoor screens

Impressive, design progressive, inclusive design work!

Experiencing different models of learning + design will assist future design.

We aim to create best possible student learning experience at Pittwater House Schools, Collaroy.
