Crows Nest House 01

Description

Nestled in the heart of suburban Crows Nest, the existing house was a single-fronted brick construction with three street frontages. The original owners loved the location however, needed more space and sunlight. The living room was South-facing, causing the space to often feel cold, dark, and damp.

Our architects preserved the charm of the well-maintained house front, whilst introducing a bathroom, WC, and laundry as a seamless link to the existing structure. This strategic move allowed the rear open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas to benefit from high-level windows. Now filled with abundant natural sunlight from the East, North, and West, the space has transformed into a bright and airy haven.

To enhance privacy and access, a courtyard was thoughtfully designed and incorporated, and the parking area formalised with a fence, carport, and sliding gates. Adding character to the project, recycled bricks were artfully utilised both inside and outside the house.

The kitchen joinery consists of a distinctive and relatively new material by FENIX®, an original nano-technology matte surface, elegantly presented in a sleek black colourway.

Embracing the spirit of experimentation, the owners infused the space with bold colours and textures, revelling in the minimalism of an industrial aesthetic. This project exemplifies the thoughtful blend of form and function, resulting in a revitalised home that proudly celebrates innovation and design flair.
